A passport to culinary innovation

HMSHost’s Airport Restaurant Month is all about offering a tasting menu reflective of the popular street-side restaurant week concept – but one which is tailored exclusively for travellers’ needs.

More than 60 restaurants across North American airports are taking part this year, as the travel concessionaire aims to offer an elevated dining experience at great value. HMSHost’s culinary team has created seasonal autumn-inspired menus designed for speed of service and value. Airport travellers can select from three appetisers and a variety of entrees.

Core Airport Restaurant Month dishes this year include Orecchiette Pasta, Shrimp Scampi Flatbread, Harissa Burger and a Crispy Chicken Sandwich.

Airport Restaurant Month also involves an innovative competition, in which travellers can “eat their way” to a trip to New York City and dinner at a James Beard award-winning restaurant. To do so, they can pick up a special HMSHost Airport Restaurant Month Passport at participating restaurants and collect stamps for each Airport Restaurant Month dish purchased.

After collecting the four stamps needed to enter the competition, the traveller can snap an image of the completed passport, and post to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #airportrestaurantmonth and tag @HMSHost.

It’s a fantastic annual initiative that showcases and steers the conversation toward the quality of airport food & beverage, helping travellers to see that they can America’s gateways can be places of culinary innovation.

Culinary variety: Throughout October travellers have been able to choose from a range of dishes especially created for Airport Restaurant Month
