“We challenged all conventions of the airport experience to create a destination in its own right, to allow passengers to continue their magical experience of Zanzibar.” So said Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR) and Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) at the unveiling of their master concession at Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport Terminal 3 in early 2023.

The multi-themed integrated duty free and F&B offer under the ZOMA name delivers strongly with a vibrant fusion of Sense and Taste of Place. From Zanzibar coffee beans, roasted on-site, to a restaurant menu filled with fragrant island spices, the F&B offering at this airport has a notable focus on local, one that also supports smaller community businesses.

The project created 130 roles in retail and culinary services with an investment of US$3.5 million, which supports the government’s vision to boost tourism and economic growth.
