Airport Lounge of the Year

Louis Vuitton Lounge by Yannick Alléno – Qatar Duty Free, Hamad International Airport

Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Thabet Musleh receives the Airport Lounge of the Year Award against a backdrop of the superb new facility

A world first, the Louis Vuitton Lounge by Yannick Alléno, opened in May 2023, represents a new bar for culinary experiences within travel retail. It’s an airport wonderland where lush greenery, whimsical sculptures, Swedish design and a decadent menu transport the traveller to a new world.

Situated above the magnificent Louis Vuitton store in The Orchard at Hamad International Airport's (HIA) recent expansion, the lounge provides a meticulously designed environment for travellers.

The Louis Vuitton Lounge, the result of a collaboration between esteemed three-star Michelin chef Yannick Alléno and the renowned French Maison, is reserved for Qatar Airways Gold and Platinum Privilege Club members, as well as Louis Vuitton VIPs.

Within the lounge, the Louis Vuitton universe houses exquisite pieces from Louis Vuitton's Objets Nomades collection, including the captivating Cosmic Table designed by Raw Edges and the elegant Bell Lamps created by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.

Visitors are greeted by a contemporary and tropical ambiance, bathed in gentle, ambient lighting. The space features iconic Louis Vuitton elements such as stacked trunks, complemented by vibrant greenery and mesmerizing Quetzal bird sculptures suspended above.

The seating arrangements showcase designer edition pieces from the Maison, such as India Mahdavi low tables, Paola Lenti high tables, and Martin Eisler's Costela armchairs.

Yannick Alléno has drawn on his extensive experience to deliver a multicultural concept that caters to the diverse tastes and preferences of visitors throughout the day. The menu showcases a fusion of local, sustainable ingredients, beloved French classics and international cuisine.

There are numerous nods to Louis Vuitton’s identity for lovers of the brand: during lunch, sandwiches imprinted with Vuitton's renowned fleur monogram await discerning palates. Cappuccinos adorned with the ‘LV’ design in the foam are also available.

With its presence in Doha extending to five stores across the city, the lounge serves as a testament to Louis Vuitton’s strong foothold in the region – and to Qatar Duty Free’s ambition to deliver one-off experiences.

Installations inspired by flocks of Quetzal parrots were commissioned to hang above diners. The rare birds are said to represent royalty in Mayan cultures.
