In Summer 2022, Lagardère Travel Retail Austria partnered with renowned Viennese coffee house Bieder & Meier to deliver a Sense of Place to the coffee experience at Vienna Airport.
The Bieder & Maier philosophy is focused on:
- Viennese tradition with reference to the Biedermeier era and Viennese coffee art, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- High quality with a gentle and high-quality 30-minute drum roasting process.
- Modern design, which has already won several international awards for best packaging design.
The 120sq m shop has been designed to embody the traditional Vienna Coffee house elements but with a contemporary twist. Bieder & Maier celebrates the Austrian food heritage while embracing new trends and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
It offers a mix of traditional bakery products with the Viennese coffee style, locally produced, plus a range of other menu items.
Performance has been strong too. Spend per passenger grew +6.5% in 2023 (to date of entry) compared to a year earlier, and the stop ratio improved by +20%, underlining this concept’s winning credentials.
